Amon’s servants made plans against him and killed him in his palace. 2 Kings 21:23 ERV

A mentor is a trusted tutor, coach, counselor or guide who teaches or gives help and advice to a less experienced and often younger person to enable him excel. Our text reveals it’s significance.

Beloved, relationship with the Lord determines excellence in life, but this relationship is usually fashioned by Godly mentors who are the shepherds that guide and show the way to a blissful relationship with the Lord. Whoever has Godly mentors, that follows and obeys their leadership, will certainly experience blissfulness and excellence in every area of his life. Godly mentorship is important throughout every stage of a person’s life, but most paramount and prominent during the formative early childhood stages. It’s absence defines destruction and ruin, which was exactly the experience of Amon, who left the Lord, the God of his ancestors, and did not live the way the He wanted. The absence of Godly mentors equals absence of Godly living which brings ruin. Who’s your mentor; what kind of mentor is she or he to you?

The eyes of all look expectantly to You, And You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing. NKJV Psalm 145:15-16

Satisfaction is the act of fulfillment of a need or want as well as the quality or state of being made happy, pleased or gratified. Our text reveals how to be abundantly satisfied.

Satisfaction is the desire of every living thing and the whole essence of human efforts and labor. Ironically and unfortunately it doesn’t come through our efforts and labors, but from the Lord. Food is the commonest basic need of all living thing, therefore it’s used here to represent all needs of creation. The Psalmist testifies, every living thing, all creation, looks hopefully with anticipation and comes with utmost trust to the Lord for the provision of their needs. Such hope and trust is never in vain as He certainly does provide them in abundance at the right time. Needs will never end as long as you are in existence, however, you’ve a blank check, that every need that arises, be it spiritual, financial, material, emotional, psychological etc, can be abundantly and satisfactorily met, if only you can trust the Lord enough to come to Him in anticipation.

So why don’t you respect these gifts and sacrifices? You honor your sons more than me. You become fat eating the best parts of the meat that the Israelites bring to me.’ 1 Samuel 2:29 ERV

Honor is a personally chosen merited respect that is given to someone that’s admired and appreciated. Our text reveals honor can be misplaced and misdirected as well as the consequences of such.

Beloved, honor is the highest thing a man owes, is expected and required to give to God. Obedience at all cost is an honor given to a loved one and a proof of love. Life offers us conflicting choices which creates variation in degrees of honor, but the determining factor has always been personal preference. Whenever we give anyone an honor far above the Lord’s, we’re dishonoring Him. By not cautioning and correcting his children, Eli chose to honor his sons far above the Lord, thereby dishonoring the Lord, which earned him God’s judgement. Anyone that loves Jesus must choose obedience to Him far above everything else, especially in the presence of conflict. Every act of disobedience to God is dishonorable and disrespectful to Him, and attracts His judgement. You must therefore always deliberately and consciously make a personal preference of honoring Him through your obedience.

But the people were silent and did not utter a word because Hezekiah had commanded them, “Do not answer him.” 2 Kings 18:36 NLT

Intimidation is the act of making someone afraid, feel intimidated, timid or fearful. Our text reveals the first stage of dealing with satanic intimidations.

Beloved, trying to compel or deter you as it where by threats is intimidation. Satanic intimidations is the attempt of the devil to accomplish this, which will never cease as long as life exists. It’ll not cease because satan is always powerless over you until you empower him through your actions or words, and he’s always looking for to be empowered. Proverbs said “we’re ensnared, trapped, taken captive by the words of our mouth….” “Whoever breaks the hedge the serpent bites…. ” Silence to satanic intimidations is always very confusing to and throws him off balance. He can only be defeated by the Word and there’s a Word for every situation; Silence should therefore be maintained until this Word is received. The Word can only be received by dwelling and waiting in God’s presence. Hezekiah’s instruction was based on his understanding of the foregoing principle, though he erred at the beginning. Whatever intimidation you’re facing right now or will face, has a Word of victory already spoken that’ll order your steps to victory if followed. Discover that Word today and act on it, until then remain silent while facing satanic intimidations lest you arm him to destroy you.

PRAYER: Lord God, I receive the grace to be in Your presence while awaiting Your Word for the moment. I choose to remain silent in the face of every satanic intimidation and refuse to arm the devil for my destruction with my words or actions. As I speak the right Word and take the right action, I overcome every satanic plot against my life, family, marriage and everything concerning me in Jesus name Amen.

Jesus said, “Go. You are healed because you believed.” Immediately the man was able to see again. He followed Jesus down the road. Mark 10:52 ERV

Mercy is a blessing, act of divine favor, compassion, kindness or help given to someone in a very bad or desperate situation that positively transforms the person. Our text reveals how to access it.

Beloved, when mercy is present, the unmerited, unqualified and unimaginable becomes possible. Mercy is always available but can only be experienced when accessed. Accessing mercy is only possible through asking and asking stems from a confidence and trust in receiving. It doesn’t matter how terribly unimaginable or impossible your situation may be or seem, the truth remains the Lord of Mercy is ready to decorate and fill you with mercy, which will positively alter everything in and around your life. However, He’ll only do this when you ask, and He’s awaiting your asking.

This disaster came upon the people of Israel because they worshiped other gods. They sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them safely out of Egypt and had rescued them from the power of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. 2 Kings 17:7 NLT

Effect is the consequence of an action or result that inevitably follows an antecedent. Our text reveals every cause has an effect.

Beloved, every cause produces an event, condition, feeling, mood or state of affairs which could either be negative or positive, depending on the cause. Israel’s stubbornness and consistent disobedience to the Word of God, the disrespect of abandoning Him and worshiping idols, brought the disaster of the Lord angrily rejecting and removing them from His sight. The rejection and removal from His presence brought defeat and destruction by their enemies, because provisions and preservation are only available in His presence. Like Israel and Judah, it doesn’t matter how little you think it is, your continued, consistent sinning and refusal to repent will also result in your rejection by the Lord and removal from His presence, loss of His protection, promotion and provisions, which spells disaster and doom.

The Lord is near to everyone who sincerely calls to him for help. He listens to his followers and does what they want. He answers their prayers and saves them. Psalm 145:18-19 ERV

To ignore is to disregard, unrecognize, refuse to take notice of and to treat something or someone as inexistent. Our text reveals certain persons are never treated this way by God.

Beloved to refuse to show that you hear or see as well as to do nothing about or in response to something or someone equals ignoring the person. Not being ignored means getting attention and getting attention means having your needs met. The Lord is near to and never ignores all those who have a genuine and sincere relationship with Him and call to Him whenever in need. He hears them, supplies their needs and saves them from whatever that confronts them. Are you confronted by any challenge? Call to Him in prayer, He’ll hear and save you, if you’ve a sincere relationship with Him, because He never ignores those who honor Him.

Joash and his ancestors—Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, and Ahaziah—had all been kings of Judah. They had given many things to the Lord that were kept in his Temple. Joash gathered all these things and all the gold that was stored in the Temple and in his palace. He sent all this treasure to King Hazael of Aram, who then commanded his army to leave Jerusalem. 2 Kings 12:18 ERV

A compromise is a way of reaching an agreement in which each person or group gives up something that was wanted in order to end an argument or dispute. Our text reveals a bad and very costly compromise.

Beloved, every concession to something derogatory or prejudicial to achieve a desired aim is a compromise of principles and is usually very costly though cost may not be immediate. Every compromise is costly, but it’s usually costlier on the party that makes the biggest sacrifice. The cost of a compromise is spelt by what was lost in comparison to what was gained. The giving away to King Hazael by King Joash of what he and his ancestors had dedicated to the Lord, though it saved Jerusalem from war as it where, but it was a lack of trust in and an indignity to the Lord; a very negative and costly compromise that cost Joash his life. We cannot escape compromises in life, however every compromise that’s dishonorable and an indignity to God, must not be made. Whatever the cost, keep your trust in God, He’ll never abandon you. Even if it seems you’re abandoned, keep on trusting and honoring Him with your choices.

PRAYER: Loving Lord and God, fill me with wisdom and knowledge to always trust in You at all times and in circumstances. Daily as I honor You with my choices, may I experience Your salvation and preservation in Jesus name Amen.

Look, God is my deliverer! I will trust in him and not fear. For the Lord gives me strength and protects me; he has become my deliverer.”NET

A Savior is one who gives salvation, whereas salvation is deliverance from the power and effects of sin, liberation from ignorance or illusion and preservation from destruction or failure. Our text reveals how to experience it.

Beloved, the existence of a Deliverer or Savior presupposes, there are dangers or difficulties to be delivered from. The prophet acknowledged the Lord God as his Deliverer and Savior, but also reveals though he has a Deliverer and Savior, he sometimes face circumstances and situations that tends to instill fear of not being delivered and saved in him. The fear of not being delivered or saved is simply the fear of death, which is a destroyer of trust. Trust is the anchor, key and root of deliverance, once destroyed, deliverance becomes impossible. The devil always attacks and destroys trust, so that the hope of deliverance will be destroyed. It takes a personal choice to trust and keep trusting in the Lord, no matter how bleak and hopeless the circumstance and situation may be, so as to experience the deliverance and salvation God promises.
