And Jesus began to say to them, “See that no one leads you astray. Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray. Mark 13:5‭-‬6 ESV

Deception is the fact, condition or state of believing something that is not true. Our text reveals it’s danger.

Beloved, every human action depends on understanding, understanding depends on interpretation, interpretation on information and knowledge. Once you’re deceived, interpretations will be distorted, once distorted, belief is demolished and once belief is demolished, commitment is destroyed. When commitment is destroyed, leading astray or deception is inevitable and once you’re led astray or deceived, irreversible and ultimate destruction follows. Being on guard, sensitivity to the Holy Spirit and carefulness not to be fed with deceptive information, not being alarmed and moved by things felt, heard or seen are the ways to stick on to Jesus and overcome being deceived and destroyed.

Grace upon grace!

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I choose to spend quality time on the Word and with You, so I’ll be properly informed and inspired, have right interpretation and understanding, never be alarmed but be on guard, so I’ll never be deceived and destroyed!
