But if you are punished for doing wrong, there is no reason to praise you for bearing that punishment. But if you suffer for doing good and you are patient, this pleases God. 1 Peter 2:20 ERV

Punishment is usually the corrective penalty for disobedience. Our text reveals it can also be a price of obedience.

Beloved, not living for what is wrong but what is right, which God wants can provoke punishment. This punishment can either be verbal, physical or both. Whatever the form, patiently taking it is never a small feat or an easy task, but it’s always pleasing to God and provokes His praises. Jesus set the pace and left the pattern and called you into doing same and walking in His footsteps. Pilate said I find nothing wrong with Him, Herod couldn’t find Him guilty either, yet He was punished and He took it patiently, so He could give you an example to follow. The degree of indignity, insult, and injustice you’re ready to endure for Jesus, equals the degree of praises emanating from you to Him!

Grace upon grace!

PRAYERS: Dear Lord, may I never consider any price too costly to pay in obedience to You, and may I learn to endure whatever I experience and let you take care of me in Jesus name
