Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.1 Peter 4:16 ESV

Suffering is an unwanted, discomforting and painful state. Our text reveals it can be an unpredictable price.

Beloved, suffering is naturally a shameful painful reward for ill or wrong doing. It’s abhorrent and detestable to many especially the contemporary Christian. However, it can unfortunately still be the prize for doing good and living righteously. Suffering for doing good and righteousness is not suffering but receiving God’s blessings. It has just one very costly alternative, denying Christ and sinning. When confronted with the daily options of suffering or sinning, every true believer will choose suffering, which will you opt for?

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, today and always, I joyfully choose to suffer all manner of shame, indignity and ridicule for obeying You, instead of denying and sinning against you!
