“Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! Luke 6:22 ESV

To be excluded and spurned is to be hated, insulted, rejected with disdain, as well as expel and bar. Our text reveals this as a reward of bringing to Jesus.

Beloved, Jesus said this must happen because a servant cannot be greater than his master; when it does, we should be happy and jump for joy because it means we’ve great blessings awaiting us in heaven. Hatred, insult, rejection and expulsion are marks of unacceptance; while unacceptance is a mark of difference. This difference is the result of encountering Jesus. The level of acceptance or rejection you’re enjoying from the unbelievers around you, is a proof of your relevance to the Kingdom and impact on them as well as your heavenly reward. What’s your worth in heaven’s economy?

Grace upon grace!
