And a young man named Eutychus, sitting at the window, sank into a deep sleep as Paul talked still longer. And being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. Acts 20:9 ESV

It’s been scientifically proven that we won’t age or be sick if only we can sleep enough, because through sleep the body naturally repairs and replenishes itself. However our text reveals a bad sleep.

Beloved a bad sleep accomplishes nothing positive but rather creates a platform for plundering and death. Spiritually, you can’t die, be bound, plundered, or destructive seeds sown in your life or family unless you fall asleep. “While Samson slept he was shaved”; “While men slept, the enemy sowed the tares”; While Euthycus slept, he fell out of the window. Sleep makes you unconscious of your environment, transactions going on, give consent to what you rather wouldn’t and lose what you ought not. “Wake up o sleeper and rise from the dead” Paul says. In what areas of your life are you sleeping, and slumbering? Will you obey the Apostle now before you become an Euthycus?
