Jesus said to him, “Get away from me, Satan! The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God. Serve only him!’” Deuteronomy 6:13 Matthew 4:10 ERV

Get away! People’s concept about this expression varies, it could be seen as an insult, advice, rebuke or command. Whatever interpretation you give the expression, it always connote a dismissal and separation which is judged very necessary for any progression and advancement to the next level to be achieved.
Our text reveals Jesus using the expression “get away!” while addressing the devil. Notice the devil came on the verge of His advancement to the next level, when He completed the fast and was about launching into ministry. Also note it took the expression “get away” for Jesus to be able to shake the devil off, because that’s the only language the devil understands. Prior to it, every attempt proved abortive. Until Jesus shook the devil out, the angels didn’t come to help Him and He couldn’t advance in life and ministry.
Beloved, at the verge of every breakthrough, progression to the next level, deliverance or salvation from the bondage of sin, you must encounter the devil whose mission will always remain to steal, kill and destroy! Until you dismiss and separate yourself from him, you cannot advance in life. You cannot dismiss him through any other way than the language of force, command and authority. You must get to the point you’ll say, enough is enough, devil I’ve had it up to neck level, I can’t take this nonsense anymore — “Get away!” Until then, there won’t be healing, deliverance, salvation, promotion or advancement To the next level, because you won’t have access to the angelic help God has provided. Make that decision right away!
Grace upon grace!
